DR. MYRON & ELAINE SEMKULEY

Dr. Myron Semkuley and Elaine Semkuley established Medical Mercy Canada Society in 1999. They started helping displaced people in Myanmar and since then have grown to provide medical assistance and care to Ukraine, India and Nepal. MMC’s mission is to improve quality of life in impoverished areas through humanitarian projects with local participation.

Dr. Semkuley and Elaine met at University of Alberta and they married in 1963. Dr. Semkuley studied Medicine and acquired his M.D. in 1964. Elaine acquired her degree in Pharmacy in 1962. They adopted four children and became natural parents to their 5th child. Together they have received numerous humanitarian awards.

2008 – Outstanding Service to the Medical Profession Award, The Calgary Medical Society Dr. Myron

2009 – 40 year Long Time Service Award, Calgary Health Region, Dr. Myron

2009 – Humanitarian Award, The Canadian Club of Calgary, Elaine and Dr. Myron

2010 – Distinguished Alumni Award University of Alberta Elaine and Dr. Myron

2015 – Lifelong Volunteerism and Leadership Award, Prime Minister of Canada (Stephen Harper), Elaine and Dr. Myron
